Hoy todo el mundo mira a la Argentina.
Desde la Unión Internacional de Jóvenes Socialistas llamamos a votar a favor de la ley de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo, y enviamos nuestro apoyo a la Campaña de Educación Sexual para decidir, Anticonceptivos para no aborto, y Aborto Legal Seguro y Gratuito para no morir.
Es un día histórico esperado por tantas mujeres. El Senado hoy tiene la oportunidad histórica de que el aborto deje de ser clandestino. Se calcula que en Argentina se realizan entre 300.000 y 500.000 mil abortos por año, siendo que las estadísticas oficiales indican que mueren 43 mujeres por año, siendo la segunda causa de muerte materna a nivel nacional. Realizarse un aborto en Argentina hoy cuesta entre $10000 y $17000 pesos, y las pastillas de misoprostrol tiene un precio aproximado de $3000. Las que más sufren la ilegalidad con las mujeres pobres, que mueren por no poder afrontar los costos que implica acceder a la práctica.
Desde hace más de 13 años, el movimiento de mujeres viene presentado el proyecto de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo en el Congreso de la Nación y recién este año tuvieron la oportunidad de discutirlo.
La despenalización es una deuda de la democracia y su legalización es necesaria en términos de justicia social, de igualdad, de salud y de derechos humanos.
Ojalá el aborto en Argentina pronto sea ley!

All around the world is watching Argentina today!
From the International Union of Socialist Youth we call to vote in favour of the law of “Ley de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo”that legalises abortion in the first 14 weeks that is being discussed in Argentina. We send our support to the Campaign for Sexual Education with hopes that they will succeed.
It is a historic day awaited by so many women. The Senate today has the historic opportunity to stop abortion from being clandestine. It is estimated that between 300,000 and 500,000 thousand abortions are performed per year in Argentina, with official statistics indicating that 43 women die each year, being the second cause of maternal death at the national level. Having an abortion in Argentina today costs between $ 10,000 and $ 17,000, and misoprostol pills cost approximately $ 3,000. Poor women suffer the most; they are in the top of those who die because they cannot afford the costs of accessing safe abortion.
For 13 years the Campaign for Sexual Education, “Anticonceptivos para no abortar, y Aborto Legal Seguro y Gratuito para no morir”, have presented the bill that is currently under review in the Congress of Argentina and only this year they had the opportunity to discuss it.
The decriminalization of abortion is a debt of democracy and its legalisation is necessary in terms of social justice, equality, women’s health and human rights.
Hopefully, legal abortion will be a reality in Argentina soon!
