Desde IUSY hemos seguido con atención los hechos políticos en Chile, desde la revuelta de octubre del 2019 con alarmantes violaciones a los derechos humanos, hasta la puesta en marcha de la Convención Constitucional para elaborar una nueva Constitución en paridad y con participación de pueblos originarios. Hoy las conquistas alcanzadas por el pueblo de Chile enfrentan un debacle que definirá su futuro democrático y la posibilidad de dar respuesta efectiva a las necesidades que aquejan a su población.

En este sentido, nos subimos al árbol de la esperanza y manifestamos nuestro apoyo a la candidatura de Gabriel Boric, por ser un joven progresista que contribuirá al devenir democrático en el país latinoamericano.

Miramos con esperanza el proceso electoral que vivirán, con la certeza de que se avanzará en democracia, con respeto a los derechos humanos y en defensa de los más desposeídos.

From IUSY we have closely followed the political events in Chile, from the October 2019 revolt with an alarming situation of human rights violations, to the launch of the Constitutional Convention to draft a new Constitution in parity and with the participation of the native peoples. Today the conquests achieved by the people of Chile face a debacle that will define their democratic future and the possibility of giving an effective response to the needs that afflict the country.

Therefore, we are hopeful and express our support for the candidacy of Gabriel Boric, as he is a young progressive man who will contribute to the democratic future in the Latin American country.

We are attentive to the electoral process that they will go through, with the certainty that democracy will advance, with respect for human rights and in defense of the most deprived.
